In Kyrgyzstan, representatives of several NGOs were critical of the deputy Omurbek Abdyrahmanova, saying that he was dissed on the hero Manas – the hero of the national epic. Public men, according to news agency 24.kg, require that the MP was deprived of his position.
According to union leader Patriot Tariel Isakov Abdyrakhmanov, speaking at a meeting of his faction Ata-Meken (Fatherland), called Manas a bandit. Kyrgyz newspaper Asman press wrote earlier that the MP has compared a hero with the late crime boss Ryspek Akmatbayev (the latter was assassinated in 2006). Allegedly the phrase was: Who is the Manas? The same bandit as a modern Rysbek Akmatbayev.
Isakov called outrageous statements Abdyrahmanova. No descendant of Manas will not vote for a party. You can be in opposition to the government, but not to his people, – he said. In turn, a member of the public association Ala-Too – Bishkek Konushbek Doolotaliev noted that the deputy was asked to apologize for his words, but no answer from him had been received.
May 24 in Bishkek, according to AKI, held a rally at which participants will be required to have picked Abdyrahmanova mandate.
Meanwhile, the deputy himself later said that the story of the alleged offense to Manas have invented it (MP) detractors. In this case the MP said that to ask for forgiveness, no one is going.
The epic Manas is the longest in the world. It is dedicated to the exploits of a hero who united the Kyrgyz, and his descendants.
In Kyrgyzstan, has repeatedly put forward initiatives aimed at the glorification of Manas and increase its role in public life. Thus, a temporary adviser to the president of Kyrgyzstan Turgunaliev called for the bill, which would be approved, this epic, the foundation of the national ideology of the Kirghiz. He also proposed to rename the capital of the Republic of Bishkek in Manas.
The deputy of the faction of Social Democrats (Social Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan) Irina Karamushkina proposed to introduce a compulsory reading of the epic in prison. And her colleague Malik Osmonov (representing the party of Republic) urged the country to expel those who do not know of the work.
