The scandal over the delivery of coal deposits Kulanskogo Kazakhstan Bishkek TPP broke out in October 2011 when it was revealed that in Kyrgyzstan fell 8.5 thousand tons of radioactive fuel. In carrying out dosimetric measurements revealed that the level of gamma radiation exceeds natural background radiation area nine times. As the agency 24.kg, the party went to the Kyrgyz side of the almost free: as the coal did not meet quality requirements, it was at zero cost (Kyrgyz side had only to pay customs duties).
According to the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan, the radioactive fuel was delivered to some schools of Chui oblast. Subsequently, the dangerous coal returned to Bishkek TPP, and, since mid-February, began to send back to Kazakhstan. The company-supplier Kulan TB has agreed to compensate the Kyrgyz power engineers shipping costs, shipping and storage of fuel (estimated to Bishkek, the sum of 220,000 dollars).
The opposition has repeatedly accused the government in this situation. In early February, as reported Radio Liberty (the local office of Radio Liberty), Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Omurbek Babanov announced that he would resign if his guilt in the purchase of radioactive carbon will be proved.
