Kyrgyz President Atambaev said that the Kyrgyz hero Manas (the hero of the epic, the legend united Kyrgyz) is ethnic Russian citizen. This statement, as reported by K-News, the head of the republic made at the opening of the monument to Manas in Moscow.
In explaining this statement, Atambayev said that Manas was born in the Altai. We, the Kirghiz, we understand that we all come from the Yenisei River … American Indians, too, came from the Altai … head of the Russian army, Kutuzov, after all, also a descendant of Kutuzov, Asians, we have common roots – quoted the president 24.kg .
Atambayev is in Moscow for a two day visit. He has already met with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
At the same time Atambayev, as reported by AKI, says that he came to Moscow not to ask for money. We came not to ask any tyins (tyiyn – small coin in Kyrgyzstan), the grant or loan tyins – he said. God willing, the time will come, and we'll be no worse than the five millionth Denmark. I believe the time will come, and we will (Russia) will help, – he added.
Atambaev has positioned itself as a pro-Russian policy. In particular, he contributed to the fact that one of the mountains of Kyrgyzstan has been named in honor of Putin. The relevant bill, as reported Atambayev approved in late 2010, just days before his visit to Moscow, during which was discussed very important for the republic issue – abolition of export duties on oil products (duties Russians eventually agreed to cancel). Subsequently, the bill was approved by the Kyrgyz parliament.
