Kyrgyz politician and public figure Kubanychbek Apas urged fellow citizens to the streets and overthrow the current government. This statement, as reported by K-News, he did after yet another failed attempt to run for president.
I urge the Kirghiz people not to fear death, nor the power of repression or police batons, no sniper shots – said Apas. The current leadership of the republic he accused of conspiring against the people. Speaking about the time the President of Kyrgyzstan Roza Otunbayeva, he called it an impostor, illegitimately seized power.
Kubanychbek Apas is the leader of Al Jurt (people). In 2005 (after the Tulip Revolution), he has already tried to run for president. Then, the CEC refused to register it because the policy at that time had Russian citizenship.
Shortly after the second revolution (April 2010 coup) Apas reiterated his presidential ambitions. He said that the results of the revolution, stolen by a bunch of reactionaries, samostiyno declared themselves the provisional government, and that he intends to rectify the situation. Apas called himself a politician of international level. If the people support me, I am ready to work for free – quoted his agency 24.kg . – I have enough pairs of costumes for international negotiations and little to eat.
However, to register for this election (which will be held in late October 2011) Apas, like last time, did not succeed. This time he came down from the race due to the fact that he could not collect the required number of signatures in his support.
In total, the CEC was filed more than 80 applications. However, most candidates have already dropped out for various reasons (not made the election pledge, do not pass the exam in the state language or failed to collect signatures). As of September 22, seven candidates have been registered.
